Welcome to "RAIL TALK." In my book, "Put A Rail On It," I deal with the importance of relationships. When you think about it, most of life has to do with relationships. Our relationship with God, family, friends, business partners, co-workers etc. While relationships differ in interaction, expectations and mechanics, all relationships are similar in what is needed for them to be healthy and productive.

In my book, I offer seven essential components needed in every relationship for it to be productive and lasting. These seven components form an invisible RAIL that enables people to operate and interact in a way that is healthy and enduring. All relationships share basic needs. The book of Deuteronomy 22:8, declares, "When you build a new house, then you shall put a railing around your flat roof, so that no one may fall from there and bring guilt of blood upon your house." There was a time when homes were built with a flat roof. People took advantage of the flat roof and utilized it as part of the living space. They entertained, slept, ate, and relaxed on the roof. However, since the roof was elevated, there was the possibility of mis-stepping and perhaps even falling. It became incumbent upon the owner to build a rail around the circumference of the roof, to denote how far to step, and as a means or recovery, if one overstepped. The problem with most relationships is that people mis-step or over-step. Therefore, all relationships need a rail.

These seven components that I offer, help to guide how we "step," or interact with each other. These components empower us to operate at a high level of productivity and a low level of disintegration. What about your relationship(s)? Are they mutually productive, fulfilling and preserving? Or are they failing and falling? Join me each month with, "Rail Talk," as I help you to build or rebuild happy and healthy relationships. SO PUT A RAIL ON IT!
