Live Scan is an electronic inkless method that captures individual’s fingerprints and convert that image in a digitized format to submit and transmits to Florida Department of Enforcement (FDLE) to process individuals background checks for State and Federal agencies.

In order to process a Live Scan individuals needs an ORI number (Originating Agency Identifier), which is provided by FDLE and identifies the agency requesting the criminal history check and its purpose. In cases where the agency requesting the criminal history check is the Department of Children and Families (DCF), it is necessary to provide an OCA number (Controlling Agency Identifier), for example Day Cares.

Information
Live scan is a process that collects individuals fingerprints on a certified electronic device to electronically submit to FDLE (Florida Deparment of Law Enforcement) for processing. Thru Live scan, we can process background checks with or without photos according to agencies requirements. In order to identify the purpose of the background check, it is necessary to know the ORI number (Originating Agency Identification number), and for some agencies it is necessary to provide OCA number (Originating Case Agency) to identify provider requesting the background check.

How does the electronic process actually work?

In the traditional method of fingerprinting, ink is applied to each one of your fingers which are then '' rolled'' across a fingerprint card to obtain your prints. Thru electronic fingerprinting, your fingerprints are '' rolled'' across a glass scanner reducing illegible fingerprints images making overall processing time faster and cleaner than the traditional ink method.
